As an insurance enterprise, Mercuries Life Insurance has devoted to financialinsurance education for a long time to cultivate campus talents and supportthe promotion of financial fraud prevention. For 10 years in a row, wesponsor NCCU Risk and Insurance Research Center for insurance academicdevelopment; for 6 years in a row, we sponsor NCCU FinTech Industry-Academia Collaboration Alliance (current NCCU Science and ResearchIndustrial Platform) to support financial technology innovation; for 16 yearsin a row, we sponsor Criminal Investigation and Prevention Association ofRepublic of China, and we also sponsor Police Academic Research Fundto promote anti-fraud awareness for seven consecutive years. Besides,we work with Risk Management Insurance Foundation for 9 years in a rowto donate modern insurance health and financial management magazineas well as sponsor large financial forum, such as 2023 East Asia PacificInsurance Forum and 2024 Economic and Insurance Development Forum.
By offering internship projects for university students and collaborating with departments related to insurance, finance, and banking, we facilitate academic and practical exchanges, reducing the gap between academic learning and practical application. This helps students transition into practical work and further allows the company to retain talent. The company has cooperated with 12 universities and 16 departments, providing internship opportunities for a total of 98 students to enter the company and gain firsthand understanding of insurance company operations.
Mercuries Life Insurance not only takes the initiative in developing financial products that meet the demandsof elder and disadvantaged groups but also exercise our specialty in the main business to host various financialmanagement and education activities, including financial course in rural elementary schools, financial seminarsfor policy holders, financial summer camp for the children of policy holders’, and other financial activitiesof games. We are devoted to provide students, policy holders, and the public correct concept of financialmanagement and basic financial knowledge. A total of 55 sessionsof activities were held, and 6,439 people were benefited from it.
Focused on the dimension of “health risks” for people in the country, we encourage thedevelopment of sports-for-all through long-term promotion of sports activities to furthercultivate strong physique and enhance awareness of health risk management. Mercuries LifeInsurance has supported domestic sport development for a long time, pushed forward manysport events for more than 10 years, and spared no effort in promoting the atmosphere of sports.In 2023, we invested NT$32.66 million in sports and more than 96,000 people benefited from it.We are expecting to establish awareness of health risks through the participation to sports eventsand drive the atmosphere of sports-for-all.By the end of 2023, Mercuries Life Insurance has awarded Gold Quality Medal of Sponsorship for“Sports Activist Awards” by Sports Administration, Ministry of Education for 15 years in a row torecognize Mercuries Life Insurance as an important driving force for domestic sports. In 2023,we received Long-term Sponsorship Award and Bronze Medal of Promotion through long-termsupport for “Taiwan Masters and Mercuries Cup Golf Invitational Tournament” and “Taiwan Fatherof Softball- Mr. Chen He-Dong Memorial Cup International Championship”.
“Taiwan Masters and Mercuries Cup GolfInvitational Tournament” hosted by Mercuries& Associates Holding, Ltd. is the onlyprofessional man golf competition hosted bya single enterprise for more than 30 years inTaiwan. It is an international competition thatTaiwan was the first to be included in AsianGolf Tour. In 2023, it attracted a total of 126domestic and overseas professional andamateur players to compete with each other.
Hosted the event for 19 years in a row; in 2023, we attracted teams from Korea for the competition in Taiwan. In total, there were 107 teams and 2,485 players for the competition. “Mercuries Star Softball Team” consisted of our employees finished the second in the invitation group.[1]
"President Cup National Slow Pitch Softball Tournament" is the biggest game of slow pitch softball in the country. It is also a tournament with the biggest number of participants for a single sport in Taiwan. Over the 21 years, it has accumulated participation of more than 27,000 teams and 810,000 people. It is hosted by Chinese Taipei Amateur Softball Association and co-hosted by Mercuries & Associates Holding, Ltd. and Mercuries Life Insurance. Every year, it attracts around 1,000 teams and 30,000 players all over Taiwan for the competition. Teams of champion of each group will be invited to the Office of the President for an audience and group photo with the President.
Mercuries has sponsored the activity for 17 years. In 2023, the Mercuries Cup Public Welfare Road Running Competition themed “Trick or Run!” We invited employees, policy holders, the public, and parents & children to support the activity with costume. The activities also combined with public welfare; not only arranged guides for runners who are visually impaired but also donated NT$300,000 to Huei-Ming School in Taichung and Taiwan Dark Run Sports Association to care the disadvantaged groups. Activities of financial games were provided at the site to deliver basic financial knowledge through recreation. A total 2,385 runners participated in the race.he President.
Chinese Taipei School Sport Federation is committed to promote sports competition and enhance relationship between schools. Therefore, it hosts sports activities among secondary schools. The events include High School Basketball League (HBL), High School Volley League (HVL), Junior High School Basketball League (JHBL), Junior High School Volley League (JHVL), High School Football League (HFL), Girl's Softball League, and dance contest. Mercuries Life Insurance has sponsored all events of secondary school sports activities for 15 years in a row. The senior managers of the Company not only attend the press conference of each event every year but also award Backboard King/ Backboard Queen to the winning players at the final game of HBL.
Children are seedlings of hope for the future. Mercuries Life Insurance has hosted outdoor painting competition for the children of policy holders for 20 years in a row to encourage policy holders taking their children for outdoor painting on holidays. It not only enhances interaction between parents and children but also improves children’s physical and mental development. In 2023, for the first time, we cooperated with “Taiwan Toy Library Association” and invited the public to experience dismantling second-hand toys at the site. We also welcomed everyone to donate second-hand toys that were not used anymore. The six sessions of activities in different locations all over Taiwan attracted around 840 participants. In total, we recycled toys in 126.5KG and reduced carbon emissions for the earth of around 260.59KG. Besides, we also combined caring for the disadvantaged with the activity by donating NT$5 per person registered the event to "the Chinese Children Home & Shelter Association". In 2023, a total of 8,623 registered for the event. We donated NT$43,115 in total to induce valuable contribution with actual actions as well as spread positive influence to the society through the activity
Promoted Teeball sport that is suitable for elementary school students and sponsored full amount for the national champion team to go board for competition. We have hosted it for 14 years in a row. In 2023, there were 96 teams and 1,440 people participated in the championship. In accumulation, a total of 1,121 teams and more than 16, 800 people participated in the event over the past 14 years.
Mercuries Life Insurance concerns issues related to vulnerable children over a long time and has donated to support "poverty-free generation" program for 12 years in a row. In 2023, the budget of donation was used on "2024 learning resource enhancement program" to provide a subsidy of NT$2,000 per person for students in elementary schools, junior high school, and senior high schools; a total of 111 students benefited from it. By supporting Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, we hope to overturn the fate of children suffering from poverty and assist those children to maintain life quality and study steadily at the same time as well as cultivate their ability of independence.
Mercuries Life Insurance supports public welfare for a long time. Other than hosting blood donation activities, “Love from Mercuries, blood donation recruitment” all over Taiwan, we also launched “financial gold brain cultivation program” to invite employees to promote inclusive financing education. In addition, we also encouraged employees to participate in various volunteer services and activities to help vulnerable elderly and children and protect environment for ecological sustainability. In 2023, the number of volunteers in accumulation was 2,449 people; calculating with 3 hours per person, the total service hours were around 7,347 hours.
A total of 13 sessions with 314 people participated in activities hosted by Genesis Social Welfare Foundation, Taichung Home of Hope, Angel Heart Family Social Welfare Foundation, Ya-Te Cup Disabled Games, and Love Binti International. Among them, Mercuries Life Insurance has sponsored "Ya-Te Cup Disabled Games" for 25 years to protect students with disabilities with insurance. Students can train their learning capability and enhance their physical strength and confidence through participating in the sports activities and further blend in the society better.art of your life.
A total of 51 sessions with 307 participants. Employees exercised their strength in finance and acted as volunteers for "financial gold brain cultivation program". Through rural financial courses, financial summer camp, and activities of financial games, employees acted as team assistants and game hosts to assist students and the public establishing correct concepts in financial management and risk management.
In 2023, we sponsored "national love song queen" Ding Dang's concert. We expected to share the beauty of arts with the public through supporting diverse art and cultural activities. While satisfying our body, mind, and spirit, we also enhanced the development of arts activities in Taiwan.
Arts and cultural creation are not only important cultural foundation in Taiwan but also the basis of soft skills of a country. Mercuries Life Insurance supports various art exhibition and performance for a long time and has sponsored “iLook Movie Party Campus Activity” for 15 years in a row as well as sponsored artist performance and lantern festival that are popular by the public. Through the support to the artists in Taiwan, we support the development of the cultural creativity industry as well. While providing a stage for art creators, we cultivate the public’s ability in art appreciation.
Mercuries Life Insurance has sponsored “iLook Movie Party Campus Activity” for 15 years in a row. We went around colleges and universities all over Taiwan to carry out activities of film exhibition. Our colleagues set up a booth to exchange and communicate with university students and increase art literacy in campus. In 2023, we used the theme of “unlocking what your school failed to teach you~ financial education” to deliver correct concept of virtual currency and knowledge of finance and insurance. In 2023, we hosted 39 sessions to reach around 4,875 people with the participation of 195 employees.
Mercuries Life Insurance exclusively sponsored two works, “Rong Rong” and “An An”, designed by artists in Mexico and Taiwan respectively for “2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Taipei” to show our support to the culture of Lantern Festival. Moreover, we invited Taiwanese artist, Cheng Yuan-Dong, to create light decoration “Mercuries Silver Rabbit Everywhere” to dress up the appearance of the building of Mercuries HQ. It extracted cultural elements exclusive to Taiwan and invited the public to experience life aesthetics of “life is a piece of artwork, and art is a part of your life”.
